Thirunettikall is a hidden gem, not widely known among many people. However, it boasts an amazing combination of pleasant weather and breathtaking views. The fog, cold climate, and beautiful viewpoints are what attract tourists to this enchanting destination.
The tall grasses, along with various wildflowers and medicinal plants, can pose a challenge on the trek ahead. However, once you reach your goal, all the hardships of that difficult path will be forgotten. Tirunetikal is truly a beautiful place.
Thirunettikall is situated in Josgiri, in the Kannur district. After traveling a distance of two and a half kilometers from Josgiri, you will arrive at Tirunettikal. There is a prominent large boulder positioned between two other large boulders, which the locals refer to as the Thirunetti Stone. At times, the mist covering the rock formations can obscure the view.
However, from here, you can not only see some towns and hill villages in Kannur and Kasaragod districts, but also catch a glimpse of the forests of Karnataka and the Bagamandalam regions of Kotak, where Talakaveri is located, in the distance. Moreover, from here, one can catch a glimpse of the Kakkapuzha moat, believed to be the spot where Tipu Sultan arrived in Kerala. Standing atop the mountain, visitors are greeted by a refreshing breeze and a coolness that evokes a sense of heavenly bliss.
Most of the people who visit here come from different areas of Kannur and Kasaragod districts. The hills are particularly appealing to tourists due to the early morning and evening mists, as well as the lush green meadows. Additionally, the sight of various waterfalls and the Tejaswinipuzha river flowing from the Karnataka forest is truly breathtaking.
The trek to Thirunettikkall is an exciting adventure due to its short path and steep climb. It offers entertainment for trekking enthusiasts and off-road travel lovers. This 19-acre area is located in two panchayats, namely Cherupuzha and Udayagiri. In response to the influx of tourists, the local residents are preparing homestay facilities and food to accommodate the visitors. Additionally, there are facilities available for camping in tents on the mountain. If the trip to Thirunettikkall is planned during the rainy season, the presence of small waterfalls and wild streams will enhance the enjoyment of the journey.
