Kodanad Elephant Training

The Kodanad Elephant Training Centre, located on the banks of the Periyar River in Kerala, was a popular attraction. Initially established as an elephant training centre, it gradually evolved into a mini-zoo as hundreds of animals and birds were brought to the facility. With a significant increase in the number of animals, animal activists began to voice their concerns about the cramped conditions in which they were being kept. The 2.5-acre land in Kodanad seemed insufficient to accommodate such a large number of animals. Deers were visibly struggling within a small fenced area, while elephants had limited space to move around.

Haritha Bio Park ensures that visitors have fun while enjoying the natural beauty. It is designed to be a unique tourist attraction, located in Panamkuzhy near the banks of the Periyar River, between the famous tourist spots of Kodanad Elephant Kraal (Elephant Training Center) and Paniyeli Poru
