Ponmudi, the enchanting hill station in Thiruvananthapuram (TVM), Kerala, is gearing up to welcome tourists during the Onam holiday season. With ongoing developmental projects and infrastructure upgrades, Ponmudi is set to offer an enhanced experience to visitors. The completion of these projects will transform Ponmudi into an even more attractive destination, perfect for nature lovers seeking misty hills, serene landscapes, and cool breezes.
Developmental Projects and New Facilities:
Tourism facilities are getting a major facelift with the PWD rest house undergoing a renovation worth Rs 1 crore, set to be inaugurated before Onam. The renovated rest house will feature improved toilet facilities and a cafeteria, making it more tourist-friendly. Additionally, a new multi-storey building at the government guest house with 22 rooms is nearing completion, built at a budget of Rs 10.4 crore. Despite weather challenges, construction is progressing swiftly, promising a fresh look for the hill station.
Furthermore, tenders for another multi-storey building near the rest house have been completed, with construction set to begin in October. The new building will include eight rooms and two dormitories across three floors, catering to the increasing number of visitors.
Weather and Travel Advisory:
Ponmudi is currently experiencing unexpected heavy rains, creating a chilly atmosphere but also posing risks of landslides. Tourists are advised to stay cautious and heed warnings from authorities, as entry to the hill station has been restricted multiple times over the past three months due to severe weather. While the scenic beauty is unmatched, travelers should remain aware of weather updates.
