As part of the Onam holiday celebrations, the famous Idukki and Cheruthoni dams in Kerala will be open to visitors for a limited period of three months. This is a rare opportunity for the public to explore these engineering marvels under strict safety protocols. Minister Roshy Augustine announced the decision following a written appeal to Minister K Krishnankutty. Visitors will be permitted entry without disrupting the ongoing maintenance work, with the experience made even more enjoyable with buggy car rides across the dams.
Entry Guidelines and Schedule:
Entry Timings: 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM
Entry Fee:
Rs. 150 for adults
Rs. 100 for children (including buggy car ride)
Visitor Limit
Only 820 visitors are allowed per day.
Days of Operation
Open daily except Wednesdays.Visitors can reach the dams via the Cheruthoni–Vellappara route and return on the same path.
