In 2001, Chief Minister E.K. Nayanar inaugurated the Thenmala Eco Tourism Project. Santhosh Kumar, who heads the project, stated that the project had an income of Rs 36 lakh in the month of May. Although the crowd is a little less during monsoon, many people still come to celebrate the weekends.
Butterfly Park spans four and a half acres and is India’s first butterfly garden, boasting more than 150 species of butterflies. Natural habitats have been created to attract butterflies to settle there. It is a very popular destination for every plant lover. This park is also home to many plants and migratory butterflies that come in search of the rainforest. The main butterflies nesting in Thenmala are the Golden Butterfly, Charcoal Butterfly, Karupan, Palm Leaf Butterfly, Four-Eyed Butterfly, Maran Butterfly, Double-Headed Butterfly, Small-Tailed Butterfly, Red-Winged Butterfly, Chinnapul Neeli, and Bracken.

Deer Park
