More Time to Explore Bekal Fort: Visiting Hours Extended for Tourists

Visitors to the historic Bekal Fort can now enjoy extended visiting hours, thanks to a recent decision by the Central Archaeology Department. The new visiting hours are from 6:30 am to 6:30 pm, allowing tourists to spend more time exploring one of Kerala’s most iconic landmarks. This change, based on recommendations from the Central Archeology Department, ensures that visitors can explore the fort during cooler parts of the day, avoiding the intense afternoon sun.

Extended Hours, Same Ticket Price

Though the visiting hours have been extended, there is no change in ticket prices. The ticket remains at Rs. 25, while online bookings are available at a discounted rate of Rs. 20. Furthermore, children under 15 years of age can enter the fort for free, making this a great opportunity for families to visit.

The ticket counter, which used to close at 5:30 pm, will now be open until 6 pm. This adjustment gives visitors an additional hour and a half in the morning and an extra hour and a half in the evening to explore the sprawling fort and its breathtaking views.

Why Visit Bekal Fort?

Situated along the beautiful coastline of Kasargod, Kerala, Bekal Fort is one of the largest and most well-preserved forts in South India. It offers visitors a chance to delve into history, enjoy panoramic views of the Arabian Sea, and experience the stunning architecture of the fort. Now, with extended visiting hours, tourists have more time to enjoy the fort’s charm without rushing through the experience.

Calls for Further Extensions

Many visitors have expressed interest in extending the visiting hours to 9 pm, allowing tourists to witness the magical sunset over the Arabian Sea and experience the fort’s atmosphere under the night sky. While this request is yet to be considered, the current extension already provides more flexibility for travelers looking to avoid the mid-day heat.
