In a major move to enhance passenger convenience, the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has introduced the ‘Chalo App’ for live ticket booking on long-distance buses. This innovative feature allows passengers to book tickets even after the bus has commenced its journey, by checking and reserving available seats updated in real-time as other passengers deboard.
A Seamless Booking Experience
Starting from next month, passengers can reserve their seats using the ENTE KSRTC Neo mobile application. With the integration of the ‘Chalo App,’ users will be able to pay for their tickets via digital methods and scan QR codes for quick transactions. Initially available for KSRTC SWIFT buses and selected depots in Thiruvananthapuram, this app not only simplifies the booking process but also aids KSRTC in data analysis to identify busy routes and optimize bus services accordingly.
Updated Ticket Reservation Policies
In addition to launching the ‘Chalo App,’ KSRTC has updated its ticket reservation policy to ensure better service and accountability. The new rules focus on timely refunds and improved passenger rights. Here are some of the key changes:
1. Full Refunds for Delays and Cancellations
Passengers are entitled to full refunds if the bus service is delayed by more than two hours or cancelled.
2. Accident or Breakdown Refunds
Refunds will be issued within two days if the service is cancelled due to accidents or breakdowns.
3. Penalties for Refund Delays
Officials responsible for delays in issuing refunds will be fined, with the amount being deducted from their pay.
4. Technical Cancellations
If a service is cancelled due to technical issues and the ticket details are not recorded in the trip sheet, a full refund will be issued.
5. Missed Pick-Up Refunds
If KSRTC fails to pick up a passenger from the designated point, the full ticket amount will be refunded.
6. Class Downgrade Refunds
Passengers who travel in a lower class than booked will receive the difference in the ticket fare.
7. Unusable Online Tickets
If a passenger cannot use an online ticket and buys a regular ticket on the same bus, 50% of the basic fare will be refunded.
Enhancing Passenger Satisfaction
These updates are part of KSRTC’s ongoing efforts to improve passenger satisfaction and operational efficiency. The introduction of the ‘Chalo App’ and the revised ticket policies demonstrate KSRTC’s commitment to providing a reliable and user-friendly travel experience.
