Every year, the monsoon arrives in Munnar, bringing with it a handful of seasonal visitors – waterfalls. Countless beautiful waterfalls emerge seemingly out of nowhere in the hilly terrain of this popular tourist spot as the rain starts to fall. Irachilpara Waterfalls, located near Kanthalloor, is a stunning cascade nestled within the picturesque woods of Iravikulam National Park in Rajamala. Nature enthusiasts eagerly await the opportunity to visit this enchanting waterfall.

The monsoon arrived late this year, but after a few recent rains, Irachilpara is now flowing in full glory, attracting tourists to the area. This one-thousand-foot-tall waterfall is located on the path from the entrance area in Anjam Mile to Rajamala. The water from the Chinnanamudi hills, situated on the lower part of the 8,842 feet high Anamudi ranges, meanders through the massive rocks before cascading into the breathtaking waterfall.

Interestingly, Irachilpara is the largest waterfall in Munnar. This beautiful destination is also home to other stunning waterfalls such as Lakkam, Nayamakad, Aattukad, Periya Canal, and Viripara. The vehicles of the forest department that transport tourists into the national park often stop here, allowing visitors to enjoy a close view of this waterfall. However, the waterfall will disappear once the monsoon season ends.

Irachilpara Waterfalls is located at Kovilkadavu, on the way to Kanthalloor from Marayoor in the Idukki district of Kerala. The water drops from a height of about 300 meters, creating a gentle and refreshing shower-like experience. The entire scene resembles a movie set and is located upstream of Thoovanam Falls. The fresh, natural vibe creates a relaxing atmosphere for your mind.

How to Reach Irachilpara Waterfalls

Irachilpara Falls is located approximately 40 kilometers from Munnar, accessible via the Munnar-Udumalpet road. It is also in close proximity to Kanthalloor.

To reach there, take the immediate left after the Kovilkkadavu check post on the way to Kanthalloor. Travel for approximately 4 kilometers, and you will reach your destination. Park your car on the side of the road and enjoy the waterfalls. This is a must-visit place if you are visiting Munnar or Kanthalloor.
